Cambier Park: Tournament #3

Posted on Sunday 20 January 2008

Having taken off last week to fly into the Connecticut snow for business, this week is the third in the USTA Super Senior Florida Grand Prix at Cambier Park in downtown Naples. There are 41 players in the men’s 65 singles draw with 10 seeds. Guess who is seeded #10.

Yup, for the first time (and based on the good showing in Ft. Myers) I am seeded in a USTA tournament. Having a first round bye (being a seed and all that!) my first singles match will be on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. against Gary Wilson from DC. All that I know is that he played in both of the first two and did well, winning against non-seeds and scoring well against the seeds he lost to; so it should be a good match.

Dick Valentine will again join me in the doubles, which should start later in the week.  More to come.

You get Emmo in the third round. I’ve seen him play and think he’ll be tough for you.
