Daytona – Day 3

Posted on Sunday 4 May 2008

Sunday mornings matches were at 8:15 a.m. against one of the top teams, from the Tampa area. Today, I had my fourth partner in four matches, Captain Bob Baker; and we had a very good match.

We won the first set 6-4; and in the second set, we went from being up a break, to being down a break, to being on serve at 4-5; but lost the set to go to the deciding ten-point tie breaker.

We were down two break points; but fought back to 8-8, with about a dozen fans from both camps watching. They were two great points that could have gone either way. Unfortunately, they went THEIR way; so we lost 10-8.

Our other two teams also lost; so Naples was at the bottom of the heap. But it really was a weekend of some great tennis and great fun with our team and family members. It was well worth the four and a half hour drive to Daytona and the time spent.

In a next writing, I will try to share some Lessons Learned From Daytona.

    George:
a 4.5/4.0 60 + player is not quite the same as a 4.5/4.0 50+ player. Age does make a difference—sounded like your team played well tho’
