Today, Dick Valentine and I played our first and last match in the Naples City 65+ doubles bracket.
No, not because we lost; but because there were only two teams entered. Our only opponents were Rick Golden and Charles Negli, who had recently returned from the Daytona State sectionals (4.0?), where their team lost in the finals.
But compared to the younger, harder hitters we faced in Daytona, this team was just the opposite: slicers and dicers. It took us a little while to adjust; but we did and had a fairly easy 6-1, 6-2 victory. Trophies to come.
Next up: Marc Vandam and I team up in the 9.0 doubles against harder and younger competition tomorrow.
