Tips for the over 60 crowd by the over 60 crowd!
This week is the fourth, and biggest, of the Florida Super Senior Grand Prix tour at the University Park Country Club, near Sarasota. My first round singles match was against Bob Begelman (Long Island to MD); and “I played like Roger Federer.”
The Club at Sterling Oaks was the third stop on the Florida Super Seniors Grand Prix 2012, and several local players had solid singles results:
Déjà vu all over again? On Thursday, Tom and I had a rematch with #4 seeded Larry Albritton and Mike Melnik, who we played two years ago.
Both singles and doubles were played by me and others at Sterling Oaks on Wednesday. My second round singles match was against former professional tennis referee Norm Chryst, who beat the #5 seed 6-2, 6-4.
The third Florida Super Senior Grand Prix tournament is finally in Naples this week at the Sterling Oaks tennis courts; and the singles started on Monday.

Let’s try to help change the tennis culture. When you see someone who just played a match (tournament or friendly), don’t ask them “Did you win?” or “How’d you do?” Instead, ask them “How did you play today?”
